At the still point of the turning world, neither movement from nor towards,

neither ascent nor decline [...] there the dance is

A little about me

People seem interested in how yoga teachers got into yoga...

Many of those who facilitate healing are compelled to do so from a place of not feeling so well once upon a time. My own entrance into the world of yoga (beyond the occasional class, where after eighteen years of dancing I thought I'd completed yoga simply because I was bendy - how much I had to learn) was following the premature passing of a loved one. Destabilising life events - which we all experience - force us to learn.

How do we cope when things don't go our way? The illusion of control dissolves and our priorities change. As we slowly unpack our histories our perspective broadens and new values emerge.

My own practice of yoga went beyond the rectangular sticky mat. After working in the arts sector, I took a mid-twenties sabbatical and travelled to places where wealth is human connection, and happiness is a side dish to the journey, not the ultimate goal. I accessed a vast library of ancient traditions that, once back on Bristol soil, I wanted to weave into my modern existence.

I observed - in myself and others - the need to slow down. Stress, fear, low energy and distraction felt commonplace - and still do. The mental space that yoga provides, together with practical techniques for calming the nervous system and building a better relationship with your own body can be transformative. I began sharing these empowering tools in 2017, creating circles in schools, homes, studios, businesses, spas and community halls.

We really never do stop learning - each person is unique and my holistic healthcare offerings are constantly expanding to suit individual needs. Much of my work now is based on the tenets of yoga therapy, and I specialise in 121 or small group sessions for those working with specific health concerns.

My current research focuses on the benefits of yoga for those experiencing trauma, fatigue, anxiety and depression. Should you be interested in working together, don't hesitate to get in touch.
